teal: (noun) a dark greenish-blue color
A week before the photo:
Me: You know what color I realllyyyy dislike…teal.
Two days before the photo:
Me:OMG! Look at this teal cardi! I just loveee the color teal!
Fashion perplexes me and amuses me. Sometimes, what’s in style will dictate whether or not we like something. One minute we may hate double denim, but then we see some adorable and stylish person walking down the street pulling off double denim. Next thing we know, we are raiding thrift stores searching for everything denim. (And yes, I am speaking from my own experience….)
I was with my friend when I picked up this cardigan in Forever21. After showing it to her, I told her that I just love the color teal, but she looked at me in disbelief…
Jenny: Hillary, just the other day you told me you hated the color teal…
Me: No I didn’t!
Jenny: Yes. Yes, you did. You were talking about colors you hated, and you said you hated teal.
Me: I was talking about weddings and bridesmaid dresses…
Jenny: No, you weren’t. But it doesn’t matter. You can change your mind. I just think it’s funny…
With that last comment, Jenny went back to shopping. I stood there flabbergasted while I started remembering my “teal-bashing” rant… Holding the cardigan out in front of me, I became torn on whether or not I should buy it.
Eventually, I decided yes (but that’s no surprise due to these photos…). Even though I had previously ranted about the color teal, I can change my mind. Fashion is ever changing, and I’m sure I’m not the only fashion-forward person who’s hated something one minute and loved it the next.
Oh! And one last thing about the teal cardigan. I bought it in the guy’s section (because, honestly, why should I buy an odd-fitting, more expensive “boyfriend cardi” when I can buy one cheaper and truer to cut in the opposite side of the store). However, while checking out, I noticed the guy next to me in line buying the exact same cardigan in teal. Part of me wanted to lean over and ask him who he’d think looks better in it…
