“Sometimes I think to myself in French and listen to old records from the ’60s”

Seeing as I am not currently in Paris (minor hiccups…don’t worry), I don’t have the wonderful opportunity to gawk at chic Parisian women while I trying to emulate them.  Instead of the catwalks being on Rue de Rivoli, I have the viewing pleasure of “Rue de Wal-Mart.”  And I can promise you (while even though some folks try), honey, it ain’t the same as Paris.

So, to prevent myself from going crazy over ill-fitting jeans and “Insert-Brand-Here” logo shirts, I take to my dearly beloved fashion magazines and blogs.  One of my favorites: Nylon.

And whilst I was perusing their lovely and oh-so-inspiring blog, I stumbled onto a post about this very enjoyable fashion film staring Lizzy Caplan.  But since Vimeo is being a bitch evil, here is the linky-link: Lizzy Caplan for Viva Vena.

PS:  When I do have French women compliment me on my style, I secretly jump for joy and immediately want to frame the outfit.  For, you see, the French women aren’t very apt to give out fashion compliments (but French men on the other hand….)

PPS:  I shouldn’t be too harsh on “Rue de Wal-Mart” seeing as there are some (note some) stylish dressers around my small town.

Vest II

After spending all day in DC with my vest, I just knew I needed to wear it out on the town. So here is a lovely snapshot of my day to night transformation!

(Grunge much? Kinda something new I am trying out…. (says the girl who then sported a Barbie pink top and white jeans the following night….))

Anyways, turns out this vest WAS the talk of Adams Morgan nightlife.  Note the following creepy, stalker conversation:

Guy:  Hey, were you just at McNasty’s?

Me:  Yessss…….why?

Guy:  Oh, well, you were that girl wearing that denim vest.

Me:  I’m still wearing it.  And what do you mean, “that girl?”

Guy:  I mean, we were all chatting about how awesome it was.

Me:  Ohhh..ok…

So BAM!

Birffdayy!

I celebrated last night by going out with some folks and telling everyone it was my birthday.  I also sported a very lovely and sparkly outfit, but, sadly, I have no photos to show off.

I do, however, have a photo from my brunch outfit from today!

But not of the best quality….it does show off my double denim outfit!  (And my attempt to pose as the French woman in the painting)
My housemates took me to this yummy and delicious restaurant, Southern Rail, where the host happened to be one of my favorite bartenders I had actually seen while out the night before.  We were then set up with a hilarious and dramatic waiter who fed off our crazy antics.
He told us he once wanted to be a football player for the Packers, but then he grew up to be too skinny… Then he made fun of us for being “cool” college students who shorten and abbreviate bar names.  Afterwards, he pretended to storm off…

The restaurant is actually really cool.  It’s made up of these train carts and an outdoor patio.  If you are ever in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, I suggest swinging by!  I mean, look at the yummy meal I got to stuff my face with!

Yumm…I’m getting hungry again looking at it…

Oh, but here’s something else for your fancy!

More shoes from PARIS!!!  And the ones I was wearing on my feet today!
