It’s probably a good thing I don’t have a boyfriend during my current menswear-inspired kick. He’d probably have no clothes at this moment because I’d be raging his closet for pieces to work into my own ensembles.
Don’t ask why, but I think there’s just something fun and chic about a girl making use of a classic menswear piece and giving it a feminine edge.
It could be as simple as cinching an oversize button down at the waist or tucking a pocket scarf into a blazer pocket or throwing on heels with rolled up “baggy boyfriend jeans.” Possibilities are somewhat endless.
Since I don’t have a boyfriend’s closet to raid, I take to browsing the men’s section of stores or taking from my brother. In fact, that button down used to be his before he outgrew it (sucks for him…).
And, as a rule of thumb, when going for a menswear-inspired look, make sure to add some feminine touches too it. You don’t want people look you up and down repeatedly trying to figure out if you are a woman or not….(Unless, that’s what you are going for….).
So, for you lucky ladies with boyfriends, go raid their closets. As for myself, I’ll stick to browsing the men’s section or finding willing guy friends…

PS: I also have this new fascination with Alexa Chung’s messy hair! So, expect to see several attempts at me trying to achieve the “I just rolled out of bed and still look awesome” look…
